Letter: Waltz proven conservative for 9th District

To the editor:

In this primary election, the Hoosiers of the 9th District have the task of choosing a candidate to run for the seat being vacated by Rep. Todd Young. This may seem like a difficult decision, given that there are five candidates to choose from. But, in reality, there is only one among them with the experience, values, and work ethic needed to best represent us in Washington. That candidate is State Sen. Brent Waltz.

Sen. Waltz began his work as a public servant as a member of the Johnson County Council (2000-04), and has served in the Senate since 2004. Sen. Waltz is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, and holds an A+ rating with them. He also has been endorsed by Indiana Right-to-Life, and has a 100 percent rating with them, as well. He has been endorsed by the Indiana State Teacher’s Association, and has also been endorsed by Medal of Honor Recipient Sammy Davis.

As a state senator, Brent has stood for fiscal responsibility and limited government. He was a co-sponsor of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), and voted against a liberal-led bill which would have gutted RFRA; a bill which one opponent in this race voted for.

The residents of the 9th District need someone who will go to Washington, D.C., and represent us and our Hoosier values. The right man for that job is Senator Waltz, and I encourage you to vote for Brent on Tuesday, May 3.
