HIV, hepatitis testing available

Positive Link, a program of Indiana University Health Bloomington Community Health, will be conducting rapid HIV and Hepatitis C testing in Jackson and Jennings counties.

Testing in Seymour will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Walgreens, 319 E. Tipton St. In North Vernon, testing will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Walgreens, 9 N. State St.

All testing is free and open to the public and is provided quarterly in these counties.

“We recommend HIV testing annually for all sexually active persons and those in higher risk groups,” said Monica Miley, a community health educator with Positive Link. “We conduct a rapid test for HIV, which is a mouth swab, so a person can know the results within 20 minutes.”

Positive Link, now in its 25th year, is a provider of comprehensive prevention and holistic social services for those impacted by HIV in south central Indiana. Its service region encompasses 23 counties throughout south central Indiana.
