Winfred S. Wilson, 86, of Brownstown passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016, at his residence.

Born May 5, 1929, in Leslie County, Kentucky, he was the son of Shelby and Isabell Baily Wilson, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 19, 1948, in Harlan, Kentucky, he married Parley Napier, and she also preceded him in death. On Dec, 28, 1985, he married Gail Mullins Davers in Kurtz, and she survives.

Mr. Wilson attended Kurtz Church of the Nazarene.

He was a coal miner, employed at H.O. Canfield and retired from Cummins Engine Co.

Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, James Clifford (Marilyn) Wilson of Kurtz and Bobby Paul (Brenda) Wilson of Brownstown; one stepson, Karl (Patricia) Davers of Metamora, Michigan; three stepdaughters, Jackie (Don) Oaks of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; Barbara (Chuck) Stout of Monticello, and Debbie Davers of Brownstown; one brother, Roscoe Wilson of Leslie County, Kentucky; two sisters, Delilah Brown of Leslie County, Kentucky, and Joyce Merta of California; 16 grandchildren, Shawn (Jennifer) Wilson, Misty Wilson, Angie (Brad) Pritchett, Kaci Wilson and Mike, Elizabeth (Charles) Cook, Ben (Traci) Oaks, Nathan Oaks, Amy Oaks and Carlos, Travis Oaks, Jessica (Russell) Edwards, Kristopher Ketcham, Karla Davers, Kassandra Davers, Sarah Davers, Nicholas (Karcyn) Davers and Brittany Fish; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Matt Roberts, Floyd Fisher and Shawn Wilson officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Smallwood Cemetery.
