Celebration planned for garden opening

The grand opening of the community garden in Seymour is set for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Seymour FFA students will be selling plants and answering gardening questions, and the Radio 96.3 WJAA Cool Bus will be on site. Gardeners can locate their plot and begin planting in the garden, which is next to Margaret R. Brown Elementary School along Miller Lane.

Seymour Community School Corp. and the Greater Seymour Chamber of Commerce, assisted in part by Cummins Inc., are sponsoring this year’s garden. Cummins employees measure and plot the garden spots and provide labor to spread mulch in pathways, and FFA students assist with that and other maintenance duties.

A 10-foot-by-20-foot garden plot costs $10, and a 20-foot-by-20-foot is $20.
