Donald Dale Greathouse, 80, of Brownstown passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.

Born Dec. 27, 1935, he was the son of Zephy and Mary Emmons Greathouse, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 20, 1958, he married Thelma Joan Otte, who survives.

Don Greathouse retired from Kieffer Paper Mills following 43 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Vallonia, an avid NASCAR fan, the “unofficial” historian of the Brownstown Motor Speedway and a member of the historical building committee at the Jackson County Fair. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, chasing cars and his “McDonald’s” breakfast club.

Other survivors include his brother, William Greathouse of Indianapolis; daughters, Rebecca (Ed) Tinkle of Fort Myers, Florida, and Rachel Wyatt of Paoli; and grandson, Davis Tinkle of Orlando, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Greathouse; sister, Ruth Greathouse Cummings; and son-in-law, Kerry Wyatt.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vallonia. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery in Brownstown.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown and from 8 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Orange County Community Foundation in Paoli, the Kerry R. Wyatt Memorial Scholarship fund or Trinity Lutheran Church.
