OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA

Shirley M. Garvey, 89, of Okeechobee, Florida, formerly of Seymour, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016, after exactly two years on the same date as her husband, Stanley, who also passed away in the Hospice of Okeechobee.

Born July 11, 1926, she was the daughter of John E. and Anna Elizabeth Porter Greenwell, who preceded her in death. On June 17, 1943, she married Stanley E. Garvey Sr.

Survivors include sons, Stanley E. “Gene” (Carol) Garvey Jr. of Okeechobee and Las Vegas, F. Patrick (Judy) Garvey of Churubusco; and daughters, Mary K. Garvey of Franklin and Rita Nowling of Seymour.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Buddy Greenwell; and sisters, Emma Louise Weller, Margaret Baker and JoAnn Donica Mace.

A family celebration of Shirley’s life will at a later date in her beloved Indiana.
