Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Women Educators met May 17 at Central Christian Church with 44 members attending.

Following the welcome by President Theresa Rouse, Joan Elsner gave the dinner invocation.

Following dinner, Sue Fechter gave the secretary’s report, and Terrye Davidson gave the treasurer’s report.

Olga Otte led the installation of officers assisted by Sandy Howard, Fechter and Connie Gerth.

Officers for 2016-18 are president, Rouse; first vice presidents, Barbara Shoemaker and Davidson; second vice president, Marcia Culbreth; recording secretary, Barbara Schuley; corresponding secretary, Ellen Mirer; treasurer, Lois Geuder; and parliamentarian, Cheryl Fenton.

Norma Prewitt will chair the flowers and memorial committee, and she may be reached at 812-521-4305.

Kathy Haper gave the history of Delta Kappa Gamma, and Phyllis Nantz told about the 12 founding educators. Karen Robertson gave a memorial serve for Marguerite Scott.

Members were thanked for the donations made to the Pregnancy Care Center.

“Glad You Came” prizes donated by Fechter were won by Becky Miller, Amy Hartley and Debra Baker Schneider.

Committee members for the evening were chairwoman Laura Stahl, Robertson, Culbreth, Joyce Mellencamp, Loris Hubbard and Joy Stuckwisch.

Rouse said the next meeting will be Sept. 20.

Her closing thought was the national motto: “Making Impressions for the Future.” The meeting ended with the singing of the Delta Kappa Gamma song.
