Senior named Brownstown Exchange Club Youth of the Year

Hannah Gallion of Brownstown recently was recognized as the Browns- town Exchange Club’s 2016 Youth of the Year.

The Brownstown Central High School senior received a $250 scholarship from the club and will be the club’s representative for Female Youth of the Year during the Indiana State Exchange Conference in June.

Gallion was introduced by club member and committee chairman Kevin Gwin.

She is a member of the National Honor Society and is involved with the student council and serves as its blood drive chairperson. She also is president of the Class of 2016, Science Club and Christian Club and was a 2015 D.A.R.E. Role Model. She also was a member and co-captain of the varsity cross-country and track and field teams.

She was a member of the school’s choral department and participated in three school musicals, “Annie,” “Cinderella” and “Grease.”

Gallion thanked the club for the award and said she planned to attend Purdue University, specializing in being a physician’s assistant.

Her older brother, Luke Gallion, was the 2012 Exchange Club Male Youth of the Year.

She was accompanied by her parents, Joey and Beth Gallion.

Gallion was the February Exchange Club Youth of the Month. Other monthly honorees were Cynthia Edwards, October; Mason McClure, November; Madison Persinger, December; Lute Lahrman, January; and Trenton Rogers, March.

The club meets at 7 a.m. Tuesdays at Michie’s Diner, 216 W. Commerce St., Brownstown. Visitors are welcome.
