Emily A. Nolting, 65, of Brownstown, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.
Born Oct. 3, 1950, in Medora, she was the daughter of Omer and Avanelle Massena Hook, both of whom preceded her in death. On Feb. 4, 2006, she married Harvard William “Bill” Nolting Jr., who survives.
Emily was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She graduated from business college in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1970. She worked at the Kosair’s Children’s Hospital in Louisville before coming to Schneck Medical Center where she worked for more than 35 years.
During her employment at Schneck, she was head secretary for George James for many years before transferring to director of volunteers for the last 15 years.
After she retired, she continued to volunteer in the gift shop. Emily played tennis in Columbus and Spring Island, South Carolina. She enjoyed playing golf at Shadowood Golf Course.
Other survivors include her husband’s children, Jeffrey (Brigette) Nolting and Suzie (Craig) Lehman; his four grandchildren, Charlie Nolting, Hillary Nolting, JD Lehman and Matthew Lehman; two brothers, Joe (Kay) Hook and Jack (Ruth) Hook; two nieces, Jocelyn K. (Gary) Traylor and Stephanie Jo (Bruce) Countryman; two nephews, Jeffrey (Tammie) Hook and Jack Lewis (Lynne) Hook; and eight first cousins, Jerry Snook, Dian Walker, Kaye Harper, Nancy Martin, Tony Massena, Myra Sutherland and Max Sutherland.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a cousin, Judy Hook.
The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, the Rev. Philip Bloch, the Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez and Vicar Alex Hoffmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Voss Chapel and from 3:30 p.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.
