Maysel Ann Thomas, 82, of Seymour passed away at 5:43 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016, at her home.

Born Jan. 12, 1934, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Gustave and Helen Pollert Stuckwisch, both of whom preceded her in death. On Nov. 16, 1952, she married Hugo Thomas, who preceded her in death in 1994.

Maysel was a 1952 graduate of Seymour High School. She worked for Jackson County Farm Bureau after her marriage. After her retirement from the farm bureau, she worked at Seymour Middle School, Margaret R. Brown Elementary and St. John’s Sauers School.

She was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church-Sauers and Sauers Home Economics Club. She volunteered at the Cougars Den. She loved her family and playing cards with her friends.

Survivors include two sons, Randall (Beverly) Thomas and Timothy (Rhonda) Thomas; four grandchildren, Kim (Steve) Francis, Amy (Chris) Benoit, Jared (Andrea) Thomas and Kaleigh Thomas; five great-grandchildren, Kennedy Thomas, Gavin Francis, Gabrielle Francis, Briana Benoit and Caeleb Benoit; and a brother, Milton (Jane) Stuckwisch.

Beside her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Wischmeier.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, with Pastor Craig Muhlbach officiating at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Sauers. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.
