Get in the Game with summer reading program

As part of the Jackson County Public Library’s summer reading program, Get in the Game, READ!, Indiana University women’s basketball coach Teri Moren will present a motivational program, Get in the Game-Attitude, at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the American Legion Annex at the corner of West Second and North Pine streets in Seymour.

This free Jackson County Public Library program is open to adults and teens. Registration is preferred by Friday by going to myjclibrary.org/events or calling the Seymour Library at 812-523-4636.

The Friends of the Jackson County Public Library is sponsoring this program with a donation to the ALS Association in memory of Moren’s mother, Barb Moren.

Moren, a Seymour native, has been the head coach of the IU women’s basketball program since Aug. 9, 2014. In her second season with the Hoosiers, Moren was named Big Ten Coach of the Year.

Moren played for the Seymour Lady Owls, leading them to a 1987 state finals appearance, before playing for the Purdue Boilermakers.

She began her coaching career as an assistant coach at Butler, was on the coaching staff at Northwestern and Georgia Tech and began her head coaching career at the University of Indianapolis. She spent four seasons as head coach at Indiana State before she became head coach of the Hoosiers.

Moren was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame on April 26, 2014.
