The North Judson native wanted to come back home to the Hoosier state.

Sitting with members of the Seymour school board for an interview for the position of athletics director, Kirk Manns felt Seymour’s passion for sports.

Saying he knows Seymour was the perfect fit, Manns accepted the position as athletics director and will now head the athletics program.

For the past 14 years, Manns served as an athletics director in Madison, Ohio.

He was as an assistant principal for two years before taking the position at Seymour.

With an extensive background in athletics, Manns said he looks forward to the challenges of his new position.

Manns also coached seven years as a men’s basketball assistant at Western Michigan University and 10 years as head varsity basketball coach at Fredericktown High School in Ohio.

After graduating from North Judson, and earning Indiana All-Star honors, Manns played college basketball at Michigan State — where he still holds several records for the Spartans.
