Lawrence W. Barlow, 92, of Seymour, passed away at 1:23 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016, at his home.

Born July 28, 1923, in Lawrenceport, he was the son of Wayne T. and Edith Reynolds Barlow, both of whom preceded him in death. On Nov. 5, 1955, in Seymour, he married Leora J. Johnson, who preceded him in death March 1, 2000.

Lawrence was a member of First Baptist Church in Seymour. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes Rhineland and Central Europe as a technician fifth grade with Company C, 735th Tank Battalion from 1943 to 1945.

He retired as a federal employee, working in the supply field. He worked as a security guard at Schneck Medical Center from Dec. 6, 1976, until his retirement on April 29, 2004. He was a member of Agoga Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, Disabled American Veterans National Lodge and was active in the Democratic Party.

Survivors include his children, Gail Bowling, Nathan Barlow and Jan Barlow; granddaughter, Aimee (Jamie) Bowling Caudill; and three great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Breanne and Gabriel Caudill.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Barlow; and sisters, Dorothy Helen Hubbard and Roberta Barlow.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Voss Chapel with the Rev. Larry Tingle officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, with full military graveside rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday.

Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church, American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
