BROWNSTOWN

Mildred Goen Swengel, 87, of Brownstown, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Hoosier Christian Village.

Born Aug. 23, 1928, she was the daughter of Raymond and Louise Morgan Wisehart, both of whom preceded her in death. On Nov. 2, 1946, in Clearspring, she married Edward Goen, who preceded her in death March 1, 1991.

Mildred was a member of Clearspring Baptist Church and of the church’s Ladies Aid. She was previously employed at Sears, Roebuck & Co., Hoosier Christian Village, Schneck Medical Center and BI-LO in Bedford. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include five sons, Mike (Mona) Goen of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Kevin (Sherry) Goen of Jenson Beach, Florida, Lonny (Wilma) Goen of Taylorsville, Greg (Tess) Goen of Seymour and Tony Goen of Scipio; a daughter, Lori Sunbury of Scipio; three brothers, Russell Wisehart of Springfield, Missouri, James Wisehart of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Richard Wisehart of Phoenix; two sisters, Dixie Whiteside of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Peggy Fischer of Phoenix; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brandi Goen; a brother, Donald Wisehart; and a sister, JoAnn Whilhite.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown, with Lonny Goen and Russell Wisehart officiating. Burial will be at Clearspring Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
