Debbie Lynn Ousley, 60, of Austin, passed away at 1:03 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Hampton Oaks Health Campus in Scottsburg.

Born July 8, 1955, in Scott County, she was the daughter of James Edward Akers and Bessie Smith Akers, both of whom preceded her in death. On March 18, 1977, in Commiskey, she married Jerry D. Ousley, who survives in Austin.

Debbie was a 1974 Jennings County High School graduate. She was associated with Oasis of Hope Mission, where she evangelized in the streets of Austin and in women’s jails.

Debbie was a caring, giving, compassionate, loving, spiritual, unselfish person always thinking of others before herself. She enjoyed fishing, puzzles, reading and taking care of her grandbabies.

Other survivors include a son, Jeremy Samuel (Marquettis) Ousley of Cleveland, Ohio; a daughter, Megan Ruthene (Zach) Jones of Paris Crossing; four grandchildren, Saylor Madyson Jones, Raynie Shelby Jones and Zachary Gunner Jones, all of Paris Crossing, and Elisha William Ousley of Cleveland, Ohio, and one grandbaby expecting in December; and siblings, Clara (Troy) Campbell of Scottsburg, Sherry Colwell of Scottsburg, Janita Pennington of Austin, Josie (Ronnie) Sawyer of Crothersville, Charley (Carma) Akers of Deputy and Paul (Dianna) Akers of Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Billy Akers, Wanda Grigsby, Joyce Plessinger, Garry Akers and James Akers.

The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Adams Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Crothersville with the Rev. Jon Pearce officiating. Burial will follow at Cana Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
