Letter: Want to give back? Let’s Rock (‘n’ Run)?

To the editor:

July 30 will present a unique opportunity for corporate Seymour to support their community, do some team building, engage in a wellness activity with a little friendly competitiveness thrown in, and provide school supplies for children throughout the county.

The Rock’n Run seeks to answer “Can a Cummins mechanical engineer run faster than a electrical engineer from Valeo?” “ Can an Aisin Manager outdistance a Manager from Blue and Company or Kremers Urban?”

For a $750 sponsorship your corporation can join Rock Star Sponsor, Kremers Urban Pharmaceuticals, to receive 7 race entries (only the 5 fastest count towards the special trophy), plus the added benefits of supporting an extremely worthwhile county-wide program.

In addition to the race there are numerous activities planned to make this a fun day for runners and non-runners alike. Have you ever seen the Jimmy Fallon egg challenge? A variety of local bands will also be on hand to keep you rockin’ and rollin’.

We would like to invite the entire corporate community of Seymour and Jackson County to participate in the fun-filled event.

As this is a program to support school supplies for county schools we are also challenging the 20 schools in the county to challenge each other on a participation level. The school that has the most teachers walk or run and the school that has the most students walk or run in the three events will also receive a special trophy. We would like to challenge each school to have 20 participants represent them July 30. Hope to see you there.

If you would like your company to participate in the upcoming 10K Rock’n Run road race July 30, contact Sean Hildreth at the Jackson County United Way at 812-522-5450 or Tim Decker, Rock’n Run Race chairman, at 812-216-3131.
