Seymour hosting outdoors basketball league

The Little Owls Summer Outdoor Basketball League will be from 8 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and July 18 under the lights at the Seymour High School tennis courts.

The league is open to boys who attended the youth camp in June and youth league participants entering first through sixth grades free of charge.

For others, it’s $20. Checks or money orders should be made payable to Seymour Boys Basketball.

League applications are available at facebook.com/SeymourOwlsBasketball. Even if you are attending for free, you are asked to fill out an application and mail it in or drop it off at the high school office.

The league will give youth an opportunity to work on their skills in game conditions throughout the offseason. Teams will be divided up as evenly as possible. Players will be grouped according to ability and grade level.

This league also will be a way to reinforce what was taught in Camp Seymour earlier in the summer.

Current Seymour High School basketball players will be the teams’ coaches and referees. Games will consist of running-clock quarters.

Parents and family members will be able to sit “courtside” by bringing lawn chairs and/or blankets.
