Homer Lawrence Treadway, 85, of Seymour passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Lutheran Community Home.

Born Sept. 7, 1930, in Medora, he was the son of Homer and Mary Brown Treadway, both of whom preceded him in death. On May 15, 1948, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour, he married Helen Marie Hirtzel, who survives.

Homer was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He worked at the U.S. Post Office for 30 years until his retirement and drove cars for Bob Poynter for 14 years. He was very involved with St. Ambrose where he was instrumental in getting the PTO started. He volunteered for several fundraising programs that helped support the church and school. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Knights of Columbus. He loved horse racing, hunting, fishing, gardening and mushroom hunting. He enjoyed square dancing and loved visiting Pigeon Forge. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with his family.

Other survivors include his children, Linda (Barry) Melloncamp, Laverne (Ron) Carr and Brad (Susan) Treadway; six grandchildren, Kristie (Ed) Farmer, Evan Melloncamp, Lauren (Andrew) Keller, Clayton Carr, AnDrew Treadway and Morgan (Andy) Simon; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Carson, Reece and Penelope; and a brother, Richard Treadway.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Overshiner and Edna Morley; and a brother, William Treadway.

The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Father Dan Staublin officiating assisted by Deacon Mike East. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Voss Chapel and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church. A Rosary Service will be at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at Voss Chapel.
