MINICON planned at library

The Jackson County Public Library will present the second annual MINICON, a general convention for all fandoms and all ages, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St.

Day-long events include board gaming, a photo wall and a game of Zombies v. Humans for those 12 and older. There also will be a Selfie Scavenger Hunt until 2:30 p.m.

Batman will stop by to read stories at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Fear Fair will give a demonstration on applying makeup from 12-1 p.m. There will be a murder mystery called Battle from Within: Murder at the Anime Fighting Tournament starting at 12:30 p.m. for those over 17 years old.

Dungeons and Dragons Pathfinder sessions will run at 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

There will be a costume contest at 3 p.m., and a cosplay contest at 3:30 p.m.

Cosplayers from Bloodfin Garrison and USS Gorkon Star Trek Fan Club: Star Fleet International will be present throughout the day.

Mini-Con also will have classes on common sense self-defense with Rachel Creech at 9:30 a.m., creating chain-mail with Natalie Bray at 11 a.m., video game design basics with Dustin Sluder at 11 a.m., and a digital art demonstration with Emma Martin at 12 p.m.
