Indiana Department of Transportation officials recently met with contractor representatives at the Seymour District office to discuss a $2,517,855 repair and resurfacing project on U.S. 50 west of Brownstown.

The project will be between State Road 446 in Lawrence County and a terminus just west of State Road 135 at Brownstown.

Milestone Contractors plans to begin patching this 16-mile section of east-west highway Aug. 1. The contractor’s tentative schedule calls for milling U.S. 50’s surface pavement Aug. 8 through 26 and mainline paving Aug. 29 through Sept. 16. Crews are slated to work at road and drive approaches Sept. 19 through 27.

Inclement weather could delay the project’s timetable.

During patching, milling and paving operations, motorists traveling U.S. 50 will be directed around worksites by flaggers. Drivers should anticipate experiencing short delays.

The contract’s completion date is Oct. 31.

This section of U.S. 50 has a traffic count of 5,790 vehicles per day.
