The 69th annual Boknecht reunion was celebrated July 10 with 60 people attending representing six Boknecht ancestors.

The picnic and annual meeting was at Borchers church picnic grove near Seymour.

The Rev. Rick Grant of Surprise Christian Church gave the prayer before the meal. Guests brought a variety of pitch-in dishes to share.

President David Trowbridge called the meeting to order. Secretary Beverly Collingsworth read the minutes from the 2015 meeting and called for old and new business so those items could be recorded.

After the meeting was adjourned, adults enjoyed a raffle that included gift cards and various prizes. The children had lawn games, a jungle gym and basketball to play during the afternoon.

Mary Boknecht of Seymour was the oldest in attendance. She was celebrating recently receiving a new driver’s license allowing her to drive until she is 98 with an option for a two-year renewal.

Luke Wheeler of North Vernon was the youngest attending with his parents, Jeff and Kayla, and brother, Keegan.

Clay and Makenzie Smith attended from Alabama.

The 2017 reunion will be July 9 at Borchers church picnic grove. With next year being the 70th gathering, a large attendance is anticipated.
