Donna Jeanne Calhoun, 77, of Seymour, formerly of Scottsburg, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Schneck Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Born June 27, 1939, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Clifford and Gladys Adamson Richey, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Gene Calhoun, who also preceded her in death.

Donna worked in management of Plessinger’s Auto Repair for many years and at Hanover Nursing Center. She was a member of the American Indian Movement and the Scott County Democratic Party. She would often correspond with local and national leaders and provide her thoughts on new legislation. She loved to write music, sing and play guitar.

Survivors include her children, Rickey Calhoun, Karen (Garry) Watson, Toby (Tiffani) Calhoun, and Dustin Calhoun; grandchildren, Maggie, Myles, Renee, Caleb, Meagan, Dustin and Carter; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; brothers, Gary (Susie) Richey, Sonny (Linda) Richey; and a sister, Debbie Richey.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at  Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour, with Pastor Dan Defriece officiating. Burial will be at noon Friday at Lexington Cemetery with graveside services.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday.
