Owls third at Fuzzy Zoeller Invite

HENRYVILLE

Pouring rain — and a soggy course — didn’t stop the Seymour girls golf team from posting one of their best finishes of the season this past weekend.

The Owls placed third of 10 teams at the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational at Champions Pointe Club on Saturday.

Evansville North claimed the top spot with a card of 295 and Floyd Central got second at 355.

North’s Abby Whittington finished one-over par at 71 on the afternoon to claim medalist honors.

As a team, the Owls combined for 421 strokes.

Bailey Goben led Seymour with a 98.

Goben is the fourth different golfer for Seymour to finish as the low-scorer this season.

Andrea Axsom scored 105, Hannah Thompson 106, Bridget Marshall 112 and Maddie Wisler 114 for the Owls.

New Albany, Borden and Salem didn’t have enough players to score as a team.

The Owls will play at Otter Creek Golf Course today and take on Columbus East.
