The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the East Fork White River at Rockford because of rains of two to four inches in the area Saturday and Sunday.

The river is expected to crest at 12.4 feet at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Flood stage is 12 feet.

Lowland flooding will develop along rivers in central and southern Indiana, although significant flooding is not expected, according to the weather service.

Flooding, which is expected to begin by Tuesday, will affect some local and state roads, low agricultural land and some river parks.

Motorists should not drive into floodwaters but should turn around and find another route. Recreational and agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river conditions.

Through 10 a.m. Sunday, 1.29 inches of rain had fallen in the Brownstown area, according to the Brownstown Central High School weather station. Rainfall for the month stood at 4.94 inches.
