LITTLE FERRY, N.J. — A 5-year-old girl has died from injuries she suffered in a New Jersey house fire that injured several others, including her grandmother.

A police officer on patrol heard a pop and found the home in Little Ferry on fire around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Some residents either jumped or dropped from the three-story, multi-family home.

Authorities say the girl died at a hospital Wednesday morning. Her name has not been released.

Her grandmother was pulled out of a window, and is in critical condition with burns.

Other residents who were injured sustained broken bones jumping from the structure or suffered smoke inhalation.

Three police officers who went into the burning home were treated for injuries. One twisted a knee and the others suffered smoke inhalation.

The cause is under investigation.
