Helen Louise Ross Shutters, 96, of Seymour passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, at Covered Bridge Health Campus.

Born April 13, 1920, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Perry and Laura Barringer Ross, both of whom preceded her in death. On Dec. 28, 1935, in Old Vernon, she married Shedrick A. “Shade” Shutters Jr., who preceded her in death.

Helen retired as a licensed practical nurse from Columbus Regional Hospital. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to her family.

Survivors include her children, Thomas Ross (Barbara) Shutters, Shirley (Robert) Noblitt, Shedrick A. “Shade” Shutters III, Mary (Harold) Smith and Janice (Robert) Harris; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Ross; and two sisters, Glenna Hill and Betsy Engle.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall Ross and Harold Ross; and four sisters, Alberta Terrell, Mary Randall, Lois Glass and Carol Catt.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Voss Chapel in Seymour with the Rev. Philip Bloch officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday.
