Mustangs top Cougars

NEW WASHINGTON

The Trinity Lutheran boys tennis team fell to New Washington 4-1 on Wednesday.

At No. 1 doubles, the duo of Matt Stuckwisch and Hunter Morgan defeated Jacob Stricker and Gavin Schindler to account for the Cougars’ win.

Trinity’s Jonathan Keith battled in the No. 2 singles spot but fell to Noah Franklin 7-5, 6-2.

On Tuesday the Cougars will host South Central.

GIRLS GOLF

Braves win at Western Hills

SALEM

The Brownstown Central girls golf team totaled 191 strokes to win a meet against Pekin and Paoli at Western Hills Country Club in Salem on Tuesday.

Pekin shot 241 and Paoli amassed 261 strokes.

Loralee Potter, Salem’s lone golfer, was medalist with 43 (+7).

Shelby Stuckwisch led Brownstown Central with 45 and Breonna Bottorff was one stroke behind.

Emma Zabor carded 49, Regan Campbell shot 51 and KaCee Collins totaled 56.

On Friday, the Braves will play Mitchell at Stone Crest Golf Course.

Trinty takes on Hillcrest

BATESVILLE

The Trinity Lutheran girls golf team focused on individual performances at Hillcrest Golf Club on Tuesday with Oldenburg Academy fielding two golfers.

Both Twisters golfers carded 50 to tie for medalist honors.

Trinity combined for 251 strokes led by Morgan Gabbard’s 57.

Demi Oakes shot 58, Anna Benter scored 66 and Cameo Hildreth totaled 70 for the Cougars.

On Sept. 7, the Cougars will travel to Edinburgh (Timbergate Golf Course).

Owls late comeback falls short

FLOYDS KNOBS

The Seymour volleyball team dug themselves out of a 2-0 hole but couldn’t muster enough points in the fifth as they fell to Floyd Central 25-18, 25-11, 15-25, 19-25, 15-5 on Tuesday.

As a team, the Owls finished 199-for-144 with 46 kills hitting and 128 of 142 with nine aces in serves.

Lauren Fleetwood led the Seymour attack pounding 34 hits with 12 kills and teammate Addie Rudge had 25 with nine kills.

Emily Corcoran had six aces on 22 made serves for the Owls.

Today, the Owls will travel to Jennings County.
