Want to paint a picture but have no prior experience or think you have no talent?

Southern Indiana Center for the Arts will be offering two painting classes in September.

On Sept. 17, Darnell Dukes will be at Schneider Nursery Inc. with slate shingles for participants to paint “pumpkins galore.”

“This fall piece would look great on your porch,” said Dukes, executive director of the arts center. “It features shades of orange, yellow and green with a touch of country red.”

The event begins at 2 p.m. at the nursery at 3066 E. U.S. 50 between Seymour and Brownstown. Participants must preregister and prepay by calling SICA no later than 5 p.m. Sept. 15.

Tuition is $30 per person, and there are a limited number of slates. All supplies and instructions are included.

Kay Fox will be offering a group watercolor class from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the arts center at 2001 N. Ewing St., Seymour.

This fall-themed painting will be done on 8-by-10-inch watercolor paper. The red, green and orange leaves are designed for beginning painters, and participants will practice salt and sand techniques. Class size is limited. All supplies and instructions are included.

Tuition is $35, and participants must preregister and prepay no later than 5 p.m. Sept. 16.

SICA members receive a 20 percent discount on either class. Annual individual memberships can be purchased for $25. Members receive a monthly newsletter and class discounts.
