BANGOR, Maine — The federal government is sending $1.4 million to upgrade the bus fleet in Bangor, Maine, which officials say is aging and in need of investment.
Bangor Community Connector Public Transit System will receive the money through the Federal Transit Administration’s Buses and Bus Facilities Grants Program.
The bus system has served Bangor and surrounding communities for more than 40 years. It also serves the University of Maine.
U.S. Sen. Susan Collins worked to secure the funding. She says the money will help improve and expand the bus service and provide more links to jobs, schools and health care facilities.
