NORTH VERNON

Ruth Evelyn Ertel Helm, 91, of North Vernon died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy (Bob) Howe and Susan (Ted) Westerman, both of North Vernon; three sons, Steve (Lila) Helm, John (Eileen) Helm and Tony (Sarah) Helm, all of North Vernon; a sister, Helen Rogers; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chick” Helm; and a son, Jeff Helm.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in North Vernon with the Rev. Jerry Byrd officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon with a rosary service at 3:30 p.m.

Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Mary’s School or Premier Hospice.
