The 43rd annual reunion of the Alvin and Maudie Davis Murphy family was Aug. 28 in the annex at Crothersville United Methodist Church with 37 people in attendance.

Kyle Fisher gave the dinner invocation.

President Leroy Davis II called the reunion to order. Eunice Lacey read a poem, “A Reflection on an Autumn Day,” author unknown, in memory of loved ones who have gone on before us.

The 2017 officers are Davis, president; Mike Payne, vice president; Sundra Leahigh, scrapbook chairwoman; Lacey, secretary and treasurer; Betsy Ackeret, Robert Peacock and Karen Davis, refreshment committee; Julie Shunney, Sue Payne and Loretta Riehl, entertainment committee; and Payne, Leahigh and Riehl, phone committee.

Should anyone receive information, such as a death or other, they should let the phone committee know.

JoAnn Webster will buy flowers for the grave of Maudie and Alvin Murphy around Memorial Day.

It was voted to continue having the reunion next year with a basket dinner at 1 p.m. Aug. 27 in the church annex.

The program committee gave prizes to all by playing “It’s A Dirty Shame.” The group also sang several songs accompanied by Janet Manger, Julie and Missy sang and Marsha Slone sang some songs she had written.

The rest of the day was spent reminiscing about the days going to Grandma and Grandpa Murphy’s house in the country, looking at pictures of the past and taking ones of the present.

The children played games, winning several prizes.
