GIRLS GOLF

Cougars top Rebels

The Trinity Lutheran girls golf team finished their week of competition with a 227-245 victory against Southwestern at Shadowood Golf Course on Friday.

Trinity junior Morgan Gabbard tied for medalist honors with the Rebels’ Vanessa Smith by shooting 52.

Seniors Macy Taylor and Demi Oakes were next for the Cougars with scores of 54 and 56.

Anna Benter carded 65 and Cameo Hildreth totaled 72 for Trinity Lutheran.

Trinity Lutheran will host Brown County on Tuesday before Saturday’s sectional competition at Otis Park in Bedford.

Braves claim MSC win

SALEM

The Brownstown Central boys tennis team bested Salem 4-1 on Friday in a Mid-Southern Conference matchup.

Brownstown got a freebie at No. 3 singles, with Salem forfeiting the position.

At No. 2 singles, the Braves’ Ethan Carlin topped Jaelen Nice 6-0, 6-2.

Sy Zickler and Sam Hoff edged the Lions’ Evan Shelby and Landon Suvak 7-5, 7-5 at No. 1 doubles.

In the No. 2 doubles spot, Brownstown’s Gunnar Zickler and Jackson Lahrman blanked Josiah Gahimer and Gavin Flemina 6-0, 6-0.

Cody Blackwell got the lone win for the host team by downing Luke Cobb 6-0, 6-1.

Brownstown Central (5-4, 4-2 MSC) will play at Madison today.
