Former North Vernon officer tied to evidence room discrepancies

A former North Vernon police officer linked to an internal audit that revealed discrepancies with property being stored in the department’s evidence room was arrested on a warrant for official misconduct and forgery Monday afternoon, police said.

Brandy Blevins, 43, of North Vernon faces those Level 6 felony charges along with a Class A misdemeanor count of theft.

According to a news release from the Indiana State Police, the investigation began in February of this year at the request of North Vernon Police Department after a routine audit uncovered the discrepancies.
