BETHLEHEM, Pa. — State police are investigating a crash that has reportedly killed a child and closed a stretch of Interstate 78 in eastern Pennsylvania.

The wreck happened about 1 a.m. Wednesday in Lower Saucon Township, Northhampton County. The stretch of road in question is between the Hellertown and Route 33 exits.

The county coroner has been called to the scene.

The eastbound lanes have been closed between Routes 412 and 33, and may remain so until after 9 a.m.

Troopers haven’t released details, but The (Allentown) Morning Call reports from the scene that the crash appears to have involved a tractor-trailer and a sport-utility vehicle. The newspaper says two adults were also injured in the crash.
