Lynn D. Sutherland, 74, of Seymour, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at his home.

Born Feb. 5, 1942, in Seymour, he was the son of Howard and Opal Moritz Sutherland. On June 17, 1962, in Seymour, Lynn married his grade-school sweetheart, Joy Barlow. She survives.

Lynn was retired as the press room foreman for The (Seymour) Tribune after 45 years. He attended The Point and was a member of the Eagles. Lynn enjoyed tinkering with old cars and listening to music, especially Elvis. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, Duke basketball, Colts football and doing yard work. Lynn was very proud of his grandkids and enjoyed the time he got to spend with them. He will be missed by his three dogs, Lilly, Jazzy and Wibbie.

Other survivors besides his wife of 54 years include children, Angela (Jim) Napier of Brownstown, Richard D. (Lori) Sutherland of Seymour and Jackie (Jerry) Blackerby of Seymour; brothers, Charles Holmes Hunsucker of North Vernon and Jerry (Rhonda) Sutherland of Seymour; grandchildren, Jeremiah (Tayler) Blackerby, Janae Blackerby, Josiah Blackerby, Joshua Sutherland and Dylan Patton; mother-in-law, Edith Barlow of Seymour; sisters-in-law, Rita (Aden) Jones of Seymour and Carol (David) Nicholson of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Ronald Hunsucker, Vincent Hunsucker, Delores Wienhorst and Steven Richard Sutherland; and a brother-in-law, Dan Barlow.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Center, 311 Holiday Square Road in Seymour with Pastor Rick Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday.
