LEWISBURG, Pa. — Dalton Banks ran in two touchdowns and threw for another to lead Cornell past Bucknell 24-16 in its season opener Saturday night.

Trailing 16-10 midway through the third quarter, Banks punched in the go-ahead score from the 1 to cap an 11-play, 73-yard drive and give the Big Red its first lead of the game.

DJ Woullard then picked off Bucknell’s Matt Muh five plays later to set up the final scoring drive of the game. Matt Sullivan hauled in a 22-yard touchdown pass from Banks with 16 seconds left in the third quarter.

Banks was 17 of 24 for 160 yards, Chris Walker had 133 yards on 16 carries and Zach Mays kicked a 41-yard field goal.

Bucknell (1-2) got 154 yards on 27 carries and two touchdown from Joey DeFloria, and Will Carter had 122 yards on nine receptions. Muh finished 17 of 33 for 215 yards and two interceptions.
