HARRISONVILLE, Mo. — Authorities are investigating after a body was found in a roadside ditch in western Missouri.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that a passerby found the body Sunday in a ditch along Interstate 49 about 2 miles north of Harrisonville.

The sheriff’s office says detectives don’t believe the victim, who is identified only as a white woman in her 20s, is related to any other ongoing investigations in the area.

An autopsy is planned to determine a cause of death and a positive identification.
