NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Authorities say a 13-year-old boy was behind the wheel of an SUV that struck a police cruiser in New Britain and injured an officer.

Police say the boy had taken a family car without permission Sunday morning and crashed into the cruiser as it was headed to a domestic violence call.

The boy wasn’t hurt. The officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He was treated and released.

No one was immediately identified.

The teen was released to family members and no charges have been filed against him.
