REDMOND, Wash. — Redmond police were searching for an armed carjacker and had asked residents to stay inside for a time Monday afternoon.

KOMO-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2ckJk5z ) that police say the suspect was on foot and likely had a handgun.

The police said on Twitter that the suspect was last seen near Redmond Way and 160th Ave. NE.

The suspect is described as a black man, 5 feet 6 inches tall and in his early 20s. He was wearing black clothing.

Police called off the search later in the afternoon and urged residents to remain aware.

Police advice residents to call 911 if the suspect is spotted.
