Owls add another win

NORTH VERNON

Seymour’s boys soccer team tallied three second half goals to seal a 4-1 Hoosier Hills Conference win against Jennings County on Tuesday.

In the opening half, Brayan Morales put the Owls on the board first with a goal off an assist by Mason Pottschmidt.

At half, Seymour led 1-0.

Following intermission, Evan Baurle bolstered the Owls’ lead to 2-1 with a score. Morales was credited with the assist.

After Jennings brought the game to within 2-1, Renato Castillo and Pottschmidt each added goals in the final 12 minutes to secure the victory. The Owls out-shot the Panthers 24-8 in the contest.

In goal, Seymour’s Elliott Clark had one save.

Thursday, Seymour (9-2, 5-1 HHC) will host Shawe Memorial.

Edinburgh tops Trinity

EDINBURGH

Edinburgh won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win against Trinity Lutheran.

Carlos Pazmino beat Jonathan Keith 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Coltan Henderson downed Aden Jones 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Gavin Hancock topped Matt Stuckwich 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Lancers.

Edinburgh’s Blade Elliott and Tommy Schneider beat Hunter Morgan and Pierce McCammon 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. Bladen Hancock and Kegan Jones downed Jace Crockett and Caleb Gruenewald 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

VOLLEYBALL

Eastern tops Medora

PEKIN

Eastern (Pekin) defeated Medora 14-25, 25-15, 25-20 on Tuesday in a tight match.

Kailen Flynn was 29 hits with five kills, and Katie Stewart pounded 25 with five for the Hornets.

Passing, the Hornets made 208 on 247 tries.

The Hornets’ Katie Beesley had a solid outing, making 19 of 20 serves with four aces and going 15-for-16 hitting with four kills.

Medora (4-10) will host Orleans on Thursday.
