Seymour’s Clare Lenart, of the Franklin College women’s soccer team, was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week.

The junior scored three goals and provided two assists as the Grizzlies posted a 3-0 record for the week.

Lenart scored one goal and added an assist in Franklin’s 4-3 victory against No. 17-ranked DePauw University on Sept. 14.

The victory marked the first time in program history that Franklin had defeated a nationally ranked opponent.

Lenart then scored two goals, including the game winner in double overtime, in the team’s home victory against the University of Mount Union last Saturday.

She added an assist in Franklin’s home shutout triumph against Spalding University on Sunday.

For the season, the midfielder has scored five goals and contributed four assists. Her 14 points rank second on the team.
