NEWARK, Del. — Police are investigating the death of an elderly woman at a Newark home where another woman was found injured.

County paramedic spokesman Cpl. David McKinney said officials discovered the two people Wednesday night inside the home, where an interior ceiling had collapsed.

County police spokeswoman Corporal Tracey Duffy said Thursday that the death does not appear suspicious and is not related to the ceiling collapse.

Duffy said the other woman was injured when she fell, but that she did not fall through the ceiling.

McKinney said the injured woman was taken to a hospital, where she was in stable condition.

It was not immediately clear what caused interior ceiling to fall.
