George Roose, 86, of Seymour passed away at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Seymour Crossing.

Born March 3, 1930, in Greenwood, he was the son of Grace Thompson and Earl H. Thompson.

Also known as “Don Thompson,” he was employed at the former Crescent Mills Feed Store in Crothersville, worked odd jobs as a handyman and mowed grass. He was a member of Crothersville Church of the Nazarene, where he only missed two days of Sunday school when he was active, and Crothersville Senior Citizens, and he was a lifetime member of Crothersville Tigers athletics. He enjoyed painting, coloring pictures, drinking Pepsi and chewing Doublemint gum.

Survivors include a sister, Barbara Loveday of Winslow; and nieces and nephews, Mitzi (Alan) Hoevener, Penny (John) Peters, Elizabeth (George) Thompson, Tony Thompson, James (Tina) Thompson, Vickie (Mark) Cravens, Tony Davis, Jerry Davis, Larry Davis, David Thompson, Randy (Bea) Thompson and Rick Thompson.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Sandy Roose and Earl, Jim and Dave Thompson; and a nephew, Tom Campbell.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Crothersville Church of the Nazarene.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until time of service.
