Seymour’s Daniel Hauersperger placed eighth overall at the Mill Race Marathon in the men’s race on Saturday.
Hauersperger, who graduated from Seymour High School in 2015, finished in 2:48.52.
In addition, Hauersperger placed first in his age group.
Braves run at Ted Fox Invite
Brownstown Central’s boys and girls programs ran at the Ted Fox Invitational, hosted by Bedford North Lawrence, on Saturday.
Brownstown’s girls placed ninth of 16 full teams with 225 points.
Noblesville dominated the event, with all five of their runners finishing in the top-10. The Millers’ Abigail Little won the race in 19:00.
Kaelyn Johnson’s all-time personal best time of 21:30 led the Braves with a 22nd place finish.
Emma Winks was next for Brownstown in 22:55, Destiny Satterthwaite got 48th in 23:10, Alexis Koch timed 23:13 for 41st and Aubree Vancoutren ran a 25:25 for 87th.
The Braves’ boys team finished 11th of 20 complete teams with 315 points.
Terre Haute South won the boys’ race with 34 points.
Christian Academy’s Skylar Stidam was the individual winner in 15:47.
Cameron Lee led the Braves with a 24th place finish in 17:54.
Harlan Deaton was next for Brownstown in 19:02 (64th), Jeremy Pitts clocked 19:03 for 66th, Trey Hackman was 75th in 19:22 and Ethan Carrol timed 29:52 for 96th.
“Overall I was very happy,” Braves coach Derrick Koch said. “I had two running injured, but the times were descent. I’m happy with our finish heading into conference on Saturday.
Owls finish 5th at HHC
The Seymour boys tennis team finished fifth at the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament by defeating Bedford North Lawrence 3-2 in the consolation finals Friday.
Seymour swept the singles positions and fought hard in doubles.
In No. 2 singles play, Ty McCory fought for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win against Brandt Callahan.
Alex Berry earned a 6-3, 6-4 win against the Stars Ian Dillman at No. 1 singles.
Adam Berry had little trouble with BNL’s Logan Bland, as he took a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles
The Owls No .1 doubles duo of Johnny Rennekamp and Grant Handloser lost to Corbin Bushey and Alex East 6-2, 7-6 (5).
Isaac Titche and Christopher Kidd picked up the other Stars’ point by downing Jonathan Valasquez and Sam Schmidt 6-1, 7-6 (6).
With the win, Seymour improved to 8-7 on the season.
Seymour tops Franklin
Holding on to a 1-0 lead, Seymour came with with victory against Franklin Community on Saturday.
Senior Marie Lenart accounted for the goal while Katie O’Mara was credited with the assist.
In goal, Rachel Collet had three saves. It was her fourth shutout of the season.
Seymour (7-5-2) will host Madison today.
