NEW YORK — Authorities have identified a woman who they say plunged five stories to her death from the ledge of a New York City building.

Authorities say 27-year-old Elena Gladkikh had been sitting on the rooftop ledge of a building Sunday morning when she slipped and fell between two buildings in the Manhattan neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen.

Police say officers found her lying unconscious and responsive on the ground.

Gladkikh was declared dead at a hospital. Authorities say she may have been intoxicated when she fell.

Police say the New York City Medical Examiner’s office will perform an autopsy.
