Trinity Lutheran runner wins invitational

NEW WASHINGTON

Trinity Lutheran’s AJ Goecker won the New Washington Invitational in 17:05 on Tuesday.

It was Goecker’s second top overall finish in the past two weeks.

Crothersville’s girls team placed second with 53 points while Charlestown earned top honors with 28.

The Tigers’ Breanna Barger was second in 21:33, Piper Hensley claimed 10th in 25:10 and Makayla Helt ran a 26:06 for 14th.

Hannah Wyra finished 18th in 27:20 and Nina Jaworek clocked 31:03 to round-out the scoring five.

The Tigers’ boys were seventh with 135 points while Shawe Memorial won with 58 points.

Lane Wienhorst led Crothersville with an 11th-place finish in 19:08.

Noah Kodestki placed 22nd in 20:07, Chandler Niehause timed 20:52 for 31st, Josh Thomas’ finish of 21:57 was 40th and Cory Schmelzle ran a 22:55 for 46th.

Panthers blank Cougars

Highway U.S. 50 foe Jennings County shut out Trinity Lutheran 3-0 on Tuesday.

Baylee Byfored accounted for the first two Panthers goals and Lilly George tallied the final score on the evening.

Jennings outshot Trinity 13-3 in the contest.

Cougars keeper Lexi Keller collected eight saves in goal.
