KINGMAN, Ariz. — Authorities say a Kingman police officer has fatally shot a man who fired a weapon at officers.
They say the policeman was wounded in Thursday’s shooting and is hospitalized in serious, but stable condition after undergoing surgery.
The officer’s name and age weren’t immediately released.
Police say officers executed a search warrant for stolen property at a Kingman home about 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
They say 53-year-old Jeffrey Clair Cave of Kingman fired a weapon toward officers and shots were exchanged.
Police say Cave was pronounced dead at the scene.
They say it’s protocol to have an outside agency investigate an officer-involved shooting incident and the Bullhead City Police Department will be handling the probe.
