Geneva E. Deitz, 80, of Houston, passed away at 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown.

Born June 4, 1936, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Arvil and Martha Carnathan Ryan. On Sept. 8, 1956, in Freetown, she married Paul E. Deitz. He passed away in September of 2015.

Geneva was a member of Spraytown Free Methodist Church and a graduate of Freetown High School. She worked at Marion Kay Spice in Brownstown where she made the silver coin clocks. She loved to crochet and watch Bill Elliott race in NASCAR.

Survivors include a daughter, Debby (George) Abel of Houston; grandson, J.P. Von Fange; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Bethany Von Fange; brother, Tom (Nora) Ryan of Illinois; and Casey Jo, her beloved dog.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Deitz who passed away in January of 2000; and siblings, Eugene Ryan and Charles “Jack” Ryan.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre with Pastor Jerry Van Kuiken officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday.
