Lawrence Ray Colwell, 67, of Columbus, Brown County, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at his home.

Born June 13, 1949, in McRoberts, Kentucky, he was the son of Paul and Kathrine Berry Colwell, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Lynetta F. Maurer, who survives, on June 7, 1995.

Lawrence retired from Cummins Engine Co. after 33 years. He was a member of Six Mile Lodge 412 of Free & Accepted Masons in Hayden. He enjoyed going to casinos and playing blackjack and flea markets, being outdoors, fishing and old cars and trucks. He loved woodworking and made a playhouse for all his grandchildren.

Other survivors include his children, Kimberley (Allen) Gater, Jennifer Colwell (Ronnie McDonald) and Paul Colwell; stepchildren, Mark Reed, Michelle (Dan) Marasco and David Reed; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sallie Foster and Chris Carr.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Glenna Wright.

The funeral service will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Voss Chapel with the Rev. Clifton Burton officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service.
