Tigers down Hornets

CROTHERSVILLE

Crothersville and Medora squared off again Thursday night in a Jackson County matchup.

Crothersville prevailed in four sets against their rivals 25-13, 19-25, 25-12, 25-18.

A string of kills by the Tigers’ Maddie Riley and Nikki Hickman propelled the first set win.

The Hornets came back in the second set, which was tied seven times.

With the score 20-19, senior Destiny Barr scored five straight service points, and Katie Stewart added three kills to give Medora a 25-19 win.

The score was 13-10 Tigers in the third set when Brittany Clem scored seven-straight service point. Katrina Christian added three kills to make it 20-10 before pulling away.

Chasta Lamb scored five-straight service points to break open the fourth set, and Riley and Christian had kills to lead the Tigers to a 25-18 victory.

Tigers coach Linda Luedeman thought her girls played relaxed and with good rhythm.

“They hustled, and I’m proud of them,” she said. “They were excited to play a familiar in-county opponent.”

Hornets coach Sara Todd didn’t feel that her team was synchronized.

Medora was 57 for 68 in serving with six aces.

Katie Beesley led the team going 14 for 15 with two aces.

In hitting the Hornets were 71 for 95 behind 20 kills, as Kailen Flynn led her team going 26 for 39, with nine.

Katie Stewart was 26 for 28, with five kills.

Crothersville was 68 for 75 in serves with 11 aces

Clem going 27 for 28 with six aces, and Lamb completed 13 of 14 with one ace.

The Tigers were 44 of 56 in hitting with 24 kills.

Riley had 18 hits with 10 kills and Hickman completed 11 with six.

Tigers claim win

MADISON

Crothersville took another win Friday by beating Shawe Memorial 26-24, 19-25, 25-19, 25-22.

Christian led the attack with 28 hits on seven kills while Riley had 16 with one. As a team, the Tigers finished 75-for-81 with 18 kills.

Serving, the Tigers finished 80 of 87 with seven aces.

The Tigers moved to 6-13 on the season.
